With over 25+ years of experience as a renowned ophthalmologist, eye surgeon, and professor at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Mir Alam Siddique has become a trusted name in the field of eye health across Assam and Northeast India.
Born and raised in Assam, Dr. Mir Alam always had a deep desire to make a meaningful impact in healthcare. After completing his MBBS, he pursued a specialization in Ophthalmology and later earned his MS from one of India’s leading medical institutions. Driven by a commitment to academic excellence and patient welfare, he joined Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, where he now serves as a Professor of Ophthalmology and senior eye surgeon. He was Globally recognized for Cataract Research in the Nature Journal 'Eye' and featured in The Times of India, The Assam Tribune and The Telegraph.
With over 25+ years of experience in Ophthalmology, Dr. Mir Alam Siddique, M.B.B.S., M.S., Ph.D. is a prominent Ophthalmologist of the country. He is one of the few eye specialists of India and the First in North-East India to acquire Ph.D. degree in Cataract Research.
Ranked as the Top Biomedical Research globally and published by the Nature Publishing Group. He bagged the Best Scientific Paper Award in the Annual Conference of Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India and International Assembly of Community Ophthalmologists in 2011.
He is the recipient of prestigious L. C. Dutta Award,2012 of Ophthalmological Society of Assam which is awarded once in every four years. His outstanding contribution as a professor for the undergraduate and postgraduate medical students of Medical Colleges of Assam mainly Silchar Medical College and Gauhati Medical College during the last twenty two years is widely acknowledged by student community.
His dedicated healthcare service to patients ranging from the economically and socially most backward to the most forward has benefited people of North East India a lot. His teachings and dedicated working capacity and ability have inspired many other doctors and students.
He is presently working as a Senior Professor of Ophthalmology in Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati.
